P3 Eco-Challenge for BCPS schools and individuals!!!

Is your school green? Are your staff members environmentally conscious? Do you want to win cash awards and bragging rights for years to come? Then enter your school and/or staff members in the Broward P3 Eco-Challenge! We want to recognize and reward schools, teachers, students, administrators, and volunteers for their efforts to learn about and implement environmentally sustainable measures and green initiatives within their schools and communities.  Sponsored by BCPS and its partners. Cover Contest from Broward Education Foundation

Submit your student’s artwork for our 16th Annual IMPACT Idea Expo cover design contest.  The winning artwork will be included on all the IMPACT materials including the Idea Expo cover which is sent to 16,000 teachers, CD cover, event poster and two event programs.   The winning cover design’s class will receive a $50 gift certificate to a store of the teacher’s choice. The student’s whose cover design wins will receive art supplies from Tools for Schools Broward.

EEC’s Environmental Stewardship Nominations

The annual Environmental Education Council of Broward County’s Environmental Stewardship of the year awards is now part of the new P3 Eco-Challenge (see above).

Environmental Clean Up/Conservation Projects Scholarship

The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative™ (officially recognized by the U.S. EPA) has engaged tens of thousands of young volunteers (kids, teens, and college-age youth) from around the world in environmental cleanup and conservation projects since 1999. Future City

Middle school competition – NOTE: There is a $25 per organization fee (includes SIM City software).  The competition is made up of five components. Teams are judged and scored on each one and can earn up to 290 points. The Virtual City Design, Research Essay, and City Narrative are all due before the Regional Competitions. The Model and Team Presentation is judged at the Regional Competitions. At Regionals, scores from all five components will be added together to determine the top team. The 1st place team in each region will advance to National Finals held in Washington, DC. (Note: Airfare, hotel accommodations, and a number of meals are paid for by the Future City Competition.

STEM Video Game Challenge

Create video games to teach a concept in math and science., to create your games.

Potato Chip Challenge

An annual contest – engineer a package for a single potato chip and be matched with a school. Mail your chip and receive a chip to judge.

Kids Science Challenge

An annual contest for individual and small groups in Grades 3 – 6. Different science topics are included each year. Students submit questions/problems for real scientists to solve, the winner getting to go to do their experiment with the scientist in that area. Prizes are awarded for entering (usually the first 1000 entries receive a hands-on kit!).

Disney Planet Challenge

An annual class/club project for grades 4 – 8. This is an environmental project that you do at school or in the community and document the process for your portfolio submission. Usually prizes for all students for participating as well as the potential for national recognition (Disney trip).

The National Wildlife Federation’s Young Reporters for the Environment

USA competition invites students between the ages of 13-21 to investigate an environmental issue in their community and report on it in an article, photo or photo essay, or short video. National winners’ entries proceed to the international competition, joining those of students from more than 25 countries around the world.


Imagine the future! Small groups K – 12 take a technology and problem that exists today and imagine what future technology could help with the problem.

Change the world! Similar to the Disney Planet Challenge. Create solutions to environmental problems that impact the world.

CDC Poster Design Contest

Be Heads Up About Concussion Safety – CDC’s Injury Center is asking kids and teens to send in posters they create on concussion safety. Using concussion safety key messages created by CDC, or creating their own, kids and teens can draw, paint, or use a computer to design a poster.

Spirit of Innovation Challenge - High school team competition

Using science, technology, engineering and math skills, teams develop innovative products to help solve global and local problems while supporting global sustainability. As part of the program, the Conrad Challenge matches participants with world-renowned scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs as mentors to assist with advanced academic and business principles.

Zero Robotics – 6-12 team competitions and Open Challenge for everyone

A robotics programming competition where the robots are SPHERES satellites inside the International Space Station. The competition starts online, on this website, where teams compete to solve an annual challenge guided by mentors. Participants can create, edit, share, save, simulate and submit code, all from a web browser. After several phases of virtual competition, finalists are selected to compete in a live championship aboard the ISS. An astronaut will conduct the championship competition in microgravity with a live broadcast!
